About Us

It's All About The Little Things!

Critter spotter is owned and operated by John Warmington and Sandra Kaye long term residents and now citizens of Vanuatu.

Critter Spotter is a boutique diving operation to make your dives fun and unique. We specialize in customizing your dives to meet your needs, from a one on one to a small group experience. We do not undertake training at our dive operation so therefore when you come out for a dive you will not be with training students. We focus all of our attention on certified divers, however if you need a refresher then that can be arranged.

Our dives are taken right from the beachfront at Havannah Harbour which is a lovely location to see resident turtles, moray eels, nudibranchs, and a range of wonderful macro life.

Based in Havannah Harbour we have been diving this area for many years and have become very familiar with the marine wildlife that lives in our waters.

Our base is our home! Literally our front yard – we go down our steps and we are in the water! Critter Spotter was started to share our passion for the little creatures, the things most divers don’t see, but even though we are looking for small and unique critters it doesn't mean we won't see our resident turtles, sting rays, moray eels and much more on our dives!

Qualified PADI professional.

Critter Spotter is a member of the Vanuatu Scuba Operators Association and the Vanuatu Tourism Office.

Our Story

John and Sandra are passionate about the ocean and preserving the underwater world. Sandra is an accredited PADI Divemaster and John a PADI rescue diver (with thousands of dives!). We like to think we have a unique eye and knowledge of where certain critters live, making the whole experience so much more fun and fulfilling.

John has been diving for over 40 years and is passionate about the ocean and relishes the opportunity to show others how wonderful the underwater world is. Over the years John has honed his skills through trial and error to become a well-known professional underwater photographer in Vanuatu. John uses his knowledge of the underwater realm to find and photograph critters that many people never get to see. For those that have a keen eye for photography or that just want to get started we can arrange a one on one or group workshop.

Sandra has been diving since 2018 and became a divemaster in 2021. Sandra had always been passionate about the ocean but was nervous about getting underwater, she finally built up the courage to give it a go and has never looked back. Some 450 dives later, Sandy is a fish and now an accomplished underwater videographer.

Diving is a big part of John and Sandra’s lives and they look forward to helping you to explore a wonderful part of Vanuatu at their unique location at Havannah Harbour for Critter Spotting.

Depending on which location in Havannah harbour we may see red bass, fusiliers, and schooling fish and other marine species.
